my next unit.....

Is going to be as an instructor at the school for Operations Specialists in Petaluma CA. Just got my orders today and I'm scheduled to start work on the 1st of July. That means I'll probably be there about a month or so early to get settled in. We are all happy to be moving back closer to home, and in 4 years, we can try again to get even closer. Just in case you didn’t know, Petaluma is about an hour and a half North of San Fran off the 101 highway in the middle of nowhere. The base is another 25 minutes NW of that. Total drive time from Oceanside/Vista is about 8 hours. I drove it a couple times and left at 9:00pm and made it home before the sun came up. Hopefully you can all come out to visit in the next 4 years. Happy hollidays, love you! Ross

My next Unit

Work has been going really well and It's been pretty interesting. I recently re-wrote the Standard Operating Procedures Manual for what I do on the ship and I did a good enough job that the captain forwarded a copy to the Commander of the entire Pacific Area fleet and there going to use it on every Coast Guard ship operating in the Pacific. I guess someone heard about it because i recently got an e-mail from a detailer saying that I'm being considered for a teaching job at the coast guard training center in Petaluma CA. Of course nothing is set in stone yet but It's pretty cool that they asked for me. I have about 6 more months in WA so I'll keep everyone updated as I learn more about where I'm getting stationed next. Love you all, Ross

Sorry I missed everyone!

Hello everyone! It looks like you all had a blast up in Delaware for the 4th. I was down in the Outer Banks with a couple of friends from College I hadn't seen in a long time. I must say I think I missed out on a better time up North. Just to give you guys a little heads up I am possibly moving to the San Diego area to try out Travel Nursing!! Ross I know you will be out there in the near future so we need to exchange contact info so we can catch up out there. I should know if I get any positions in the next few weeks and plan on being out there September 1st! Wish me luck!! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and remember, be safe!! (Haha this coming from the girl who knocked her front tooth out riding a mechanical bull). Take care and hope to see you all soon! ~COLLEEN

Wasn't the 4th Great?!?!

Wow...I had such a blast this past weekend!! I am so glad that so many were able to make it out to Delaware for the 4th!! I have downloaded my photos and will include a couple of them in this post. I am also working on some other elements to make a photo slide show a possibility for us to share our pictures easier than having to post a ton of pics. Thank you Uncle Robbie for opening your house to such a large crew!! I know we came in and just took over, and what a blessing you are to the rest of us. My kids had a wonderful time, and loved meeting everyone. They are already asking when we can go back and visit again. So here are some pictures to remember... Here are the funny boys all giving bunny ears... And here is part of the crew in a group picture... and here is the a zoomed out pic of the crew... here are the siblings... Tammy, Ross, Robbie and little Abby at the lake... I have tons more and will do some modifying and post more for everyone to view. I love you all, miss you already and can't wait to get back to see you all again!! Love, Autumn

hey guys

Hey guys, How are things? Life up is good. I passed my test for e-5 so the list should come out in January some time and soon after that ill make rank. Moving on up. Ive already started the steps for e-6 also. And im starting a program for direct commission. Im working towards an associates degree and after that it should be smooth sailing. I already have credits toward an intelligence degree so intel officer is what im working toward. That whole thing should take me about three to four years from now. So right when my first term enlistment is up. From nothing to officer in 6 years is the goal. Morgan and the kids are good. Looking forward to the snow. Its snowing at a couple thousand feet already and the mountains behind our house have a nice white blanket on them. A few more days and well see some at ground level. On average its about 37 degrees here but dropping fast. I leave for Baltimore on Jan 12th and it will probably take me about a month and a half to get there. Going through the canal should be fun. On the way home from there ill be stopping into Yorktown or something like that. I know its like a thirty minute drive from Virginia Beach where im going and ill be there for two weeks so hopefully ill get to see some of you. My whole trip is 6 months long so ill be around. Take care and ill update as often as I can. happy hollidays! With love, Ross

How to Post a Picture

Here is a step by step. I had difficulty at first too, so I hope this helps anyone who is struggling with adding photos.
1. Click on new post ( you will be directed to new page).
2. Create title for your post.
3. At top of message box (like the toolbar), there is a picture icon. If you hold your cursor over the picture it should say "add image". Click on this. A new box will open up.
4. In the new box, there is a rectangle at the top with a "browse" button next to it. Click on browse. You will be able to look through pictures you have saved to your computer. After you have chosen the picture you want to use, click open. You should a link in the rectangle box next to the browse button that was blank originally.
5. At the bottom of the image box, there is an orange button that says "upload image". Click on this. It may take a little bit of time for the picture to upload (you will see a sign that says "your image is being uploaded to blogger"). After it has uploaded you should see the image in the box, and you click on "done". You will be directed back to the post, and you can write whatever you would like at that point.
6. You can publish the post as normal at this point, and see your image.
I went through the steps on the picture above to make sure I gave accurate instructions.
Hope that helps everyone and isn't too tedious of directions. ( tend to be too detailed at times with instructions).

Autumn Family pics

Here is one where we were out camping and looking a bit rough!! We had a great time, fighting the mosquitos and walking about a block's distance to reach a bathroom. Great times, and the kids ask to go back all the time!! This spring, the Cleveland Cavaliers were the Eastern Conference Champs, and the kids went downtown with John to check out some of the sites that were set up to celebrate. The big basketball in the back was set up in front of the "Q". The kids had a fun day seeing the sites and taking lots of pictures.

Question of the Day...

So, I was thinking...in order for us to get to know each other better, as many of us have been disconnected over the years, I would like to pose a Question of the Day to stimulate thought and conversation and to help us all gain a little insight into each other. Anyone can pose a question, and I'll start for today. What is your favorite childhood memory? Feel free to elaborate as much or as little as you would like. Autumn
