Just an update, I dont know if were still using this or not. Currently im deployed down here in Grand Isle Luisiana. Dont be surprised if you dont know where that is because local's I met in New Orleans dont even know. It's a tinny island community at the southern end of the LA 1. Right in the middle of all the marshes. I'm in charge of communications between the shore, and about 200-300 boats working to clean up the oil spill. To say it's stressfull would be an understatement. Other than that and the mosquitos it's not to bad. It's catch and release fishing here now so for a town (if you can call it that) that's whole purpose is to provide some of the best fishing in the Gulf region, it's very dead. I tried to go a couple days ago but ran into a puddle of oil on the beach and kinda killed my mood. I did manage to rescue some Hermit Crab's and one large Blue Crab. I put them in the live well at one of the fish camps and there was an instant sheen on the waters surface. Hopefully the filtration system in there gets them cleaned up. Everyone is working hard down here and I have no doubt that the oil will be cleaned up completely in about a year. As long as nothing else happens. Wish me luck and I'll be back in cali soon.

my next unit.....
Is going to be as an instructor at the school for Operations Specialists in Petaluma CA. Just got my orders today and I'm scheduled to start work on the 1st of July. That means I'll probably be there about a month or so early to get settled in. We are all happy to be moving back closer to home, and in 4 years, we can try again to get even closer. Just in case you didn’t know, Petaluma is about an hour and a half North of San Fran off the 101 highway in the middle of nowhere. The base is another 25 minutes NW of that. Total drive time from Oceanside/Vista is about 8 hours. I drove it a couple times and left at 9:00pm and made it home before the sun came up. Hopefully you can all come out to visit in the next 4 years. Happy hollidays, love you!

My next Unit
Work has been going really well and It's been pretty interesting. I recently re-wrote the Standard Operating Procedures Manual for what I do on the ship and I did a good enough job that the captain forwarded a copy to the Commander of the entire Pacific Area fleet and there going to use it on every Coast Guard ship operating in the Pacific. I guess someone heard about it because i recently got an e-mail from a detailer saying that I'm being considered for a teaching job at the coast guard training center in Petaluma CA. Of course nothing is set in stone yet but It's pretty cool that they asked for me. I have about 6 more months in WA so I'll keep everyone updated as I learn more about where I'm getting stationed next.
Love you all,
Ross

Sorry I missed everyone!
Hello everyone! It looks like you all had a blast up in Delaware for the 4th. I was down in the Outer Banks with a couple of friends from College I hadn't seen in a long time. I must say I think I missed out on a better time up North. Just to give you guys a little heads up I am possibly moving to the San Diego area to try out Travel Nursing!! Ross I know you will be out there in the near future so we need to exchange contact info so we can catch up out there. I should know if I get any positions in the next few weeks and plan on being out there September 1st! Wish me luck!! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and remember, be safe!! (Haha this coming from the girl who knocked her front tooth out riding a mechanical bull). Take care and hope to see you all soon! ~COLLEEN

Wasn't the 4th Great?!?!
Wow...I had such a blast this past weekend!! I am so glad that so many were able to make it out to Delaware for the 4th!! I have downloaded my photos and will include a couple of them in this post. I am also working on some other elements to make a photo slide show a possibility for us to share our pictures easier than having to post a ton of pics.
Thank you Uncle Robbie for opening your house to such a large crew!! I know we came in and just took over, and what a blessing you are to the rest of us. My kids had a wonderful time, and loved meeting everyone. They are already asking when we can go back and visit again.
So here are some pictures to remember...
Here are the funny boys all giving bunny ears...
And here is part of the crew in a group picture...
and here is the a zoomed out pic of the crew...
here are the siblings...
Tammy, Ross, Robbie and little Abby at the lake...
I have tons more and will do some modifying and post more for everyone to view.
I love you all, miss you already and can't wait to get back to see you all again!!
Love,
Autumn
